Should you stop taking Tramadol because ofthe new label?
- by admin
People react to the news diffrently. Well, everyone has his own experiences, but also we tend to rely on what others tell us. So, if we think the of a “thing” benefits outweigh the costs, we are likely to engage in the activity or buy the “thing”. But we avoid or reject it, if we think we could lose out. That’s not always good, as if you avoid something, you don’t give yourself the opportunity to find out whether you actually lose. It’ s similar to a false alarm. On the other hand, most marketing is grounded on optimistic claims and often leaves you disappointed. And the experience gives you the chance to update your expectations. Except, that we all have our prejudices. The worse thing, we are likely to accept advice from people who confirm our point of view rather than from those who might challenge our beliefs. Thi si sall trust matters.
So what is our reaction when an “expert” tells us something? Psychologically , it depends on whether we think the person is biased or corrupt. If that’s the case, the fact the advice might be accurate and timely will make no difference. It will be ignored. Risk is all about uncertainty. It’s not something you can measure easily and the problem of how we react depends on how quickly the risk might come true. Try telling a cigarette smoker there’s a risk of cancer in twenty years time. It’s all about the pleasure now and the delusion you will do something about it before the risk gets more real.
A change in the labeling for Tramadol has just announced by the FDA. A letter has alos been sent to all doctors, advising a change to the way in which they write prescriptions. There were some reports that two people have died as a result of taking opioid painkillers. This is a delicate matter because the FDA will not say how many have died but, given past experience, we can assume the number is very small. The FDA tends to work on a precautionary basis and, if tens were dying, they would take the drug off the market. So why are these people dying? It comes down to overdoses – a tiny percentage of cases. It seems one or two people who were emotionally disturbed and depressed died when they took too much of the drug. Doctors are advised to highlight the drug interactions with Tramadol to all patients, especially those taking an antidepressant or tranquilizers.
FDA is actually less in the pocket of Big Pharma than under the last Administration. But the reality of the warning seems to really apply to a really small number of people apart from the million patients who take Tramadol regularly. While we would never suggest you ignore an FDA announcement, just be wise and consider a simple question. If the benefits of this painkiller are real to you, and the risks are only applicable to people wwith sserious mental aberrations, are you willing to change your response? We suspect the majprity of people won’t take much notice on the new label.
Buy Viagra online to treat erectile dysfunction
- by admin
It’s always best to start off an article with a contemporary reference and, as of now, we have the perfect answer to the question, What is longer than an erection? The victory of Isner over Mahut at Wimbledon. Now we have the humor out of the way, we can get to the more important question whether erectile dysfunction is a symptom of diabetes and heart disease. One of the traps you can fall into is assuming there’s nothing seriously wrong with you if erections stop appearing or fade rapidly into the night. This is a kind of self-deception. You decided you did not want to go see a doctor. This was just too embarrassing. The internet is wonderfully anonymous. Everything will be great again once the little blue pills arrive. Well, you need to think again. Adding to the already impressive pile of evidence comes some new research out of Australia which followed a big group of men over a period of years. It seems that men aged 20 and above who experience erectile dysfunction are twice as likely to have a stroke or heart attack than men whose sexual performance is normal. To give you just one set of age-related numbers: if men have a serious episode of erectile dysfunction at the age of 55 and above, 2% will have a stroke or heart attack within twelve months, 11% within five years. The risk is actually greater if you are younger.
Almost 90% of men diagnosed with diabetes have some degree of erectile dysfunction. Now turn this around. If you have erectile dysfunction you should always have the test for glucose levels. Should you have diabetes and fail to get treatment, the progress of the disease slowly destroys the nerve endings controlling erections. So, even though you may have some respite when you begin using the little blue pills, they will slowly lose their effect. If the damage is too serious, you will never have an erection again. There’s no current treatment to repair lost nerve endings.
No matter how you write this type of article, it always ends up alarmist. You know how it works. If you want to live a full and active life, get a check-up. But, no matter how much we might try to wish this inconvenient truth away, it is the truth. So, no pressure, then. If you have what seems to be a sequence of erection failures, you could go online and buy Viagra from one of the pharmacies. The prices are low. You avoid embarrassment. But that does you little good if, a short while later, you begin to experience chest pain. Viagra will keep you going. Diabetes, a stroke or heart attack will stop you in your tracks. This reluctance to have a check-up is self-defeating. Diabetes can be treated and all damage to nerve endings prevented. Similarly, there’s an excellent series of drugs available to reduce the chances of heart disease to zero so long as you start early enough. So no more hiding online with Viagra arriving in plain wrappers. Meet the challenge head on and enjoy sex into your seventies and beyond (that should be “infinity and beyond” given the arrival of Toy Story III).
Cold Sore Medication
- by admin
There are various options for anyone seeking cold sore medication and because none of these products is completely effective in curing cold sore symptoms when they appear, research is ongoing to help search for the ultimate cold sore treatment. With some figures suggesting that 70-90 percent of the population carries the herpes simplex virus, the potential market for a fast and effective remedy is huge, despite the fact that many of the infected show no symptoms of the condition.
Here we take a look at some of the most popular products on the market and look at how they work.
Abreva
Abreva is one of the most popular and effective cold sore medicines available and is currently the only over-the-counter cold sore medication to be approved by the FDA. The active ingredient is Docosanol, which prevents the cold sore from spreading by forming a protective layer around the healthy cells situated next to the cold sore. It is at its most effective when applied to the sore before it blisters – i.e. in the tingling stage onwards and can reduce the duration of an attack by 2 or 3 days.
Zovirax
In some sufferers the application of Zovirax as soon as tingling is felt can reduce the development of a cold sore dramatically, sometimes no appearing at all. The active ingredient is acycloviris, which acts to inhibit the virus from replicating and helps reduces the irritation and redness around the sore.
Novitra
Novitra is a topical salve that contains zinc sulfate, which is easily absorbed and helps accelerate the healing process. Currently this product is not approved by the FDA.
Lysine salves
Lysine is well known for its ability to prevent and treat cold sores and is often taken as a supplement to help reduce the frequency of cold sore attacks. However there are also a number of salves containing lysine, which can be used to help cold sores when they appear.
As you can see from the selection above, there are a number of different options to consider when looking for prescription or over the counter cold sore medication. Remember however that some of these drugs can produce undesirable side effects and that in many cases natural remedies have been shown to be just as effective in reducing the overall time for the lesion to heal completely.
Buy Propecia but think about your diet as well
- by admin
When you add up all the different things able to affect your hair, it gets to be a slightly scary list. Although most people know all about the genetic influence of parents and grandparents and the role of hormones, we then get on to stress, poor diet and hair loss as a side effect of some of the drugs we take. Curiously, the most common of the environmental causes is probably poor diet. Think how many times you eat on the run, grabbing a burger or sandwich as you pass a stall. No matter we all know the theory of eating a balanced meal at the same times every day, it never seems to work out that way. So what’s the problem?
Well, without getting too technical about it, a hair is made up of protein fibers – it’s a little bit like a rope with filaments of keratin bound together to give the final structure strength and flexibility. Under normal circumstances, hair draws what it needs for healthy growth from the food we eat. This is a mixture of proteins, vitamins, and minerals. If there’s a shortage, the usual shine of the hair disappears and it can go limp. Should this continue, the longer hairs can break and some will fall out. Put another way, you will keep more hair if you eat a balanced diet.
As a reminder, we are designed to lose about 100 hairs a day. In the cycle of growth, resting, shedding and regrowth, our hairs should shed evenly over the scalp and then regrow. This gives complete coverage without any thin or bald patches. If hair does come out in clumps this is a symptom of several possible problems like a fungal infection. A doctor will be able to tell you what the problem is. There are treatments for all the main causes and you should see healthy hair return. It’s the same when you are not eating a healthy diet. Only a few changes are needed to bring the look of your hair back up to its shiny best.
Apart from a hectic lifestyle, what else can affect diet? The most common is crash dieting to lose weight. The more protein you cut out, the worse the damage to your hair. If you keep it up for any length of time, hair fall will increase. So what should you eat? We start with all kinds of meat, fish and eggs. As a vegetarian, you should either find alternative foods including wholegrain products, dairy products and fresh nuts, or take supplements. Generally, everyone needs vitamins B and C and trace metals like iron and zinc.
Because your hair is a mirror to the general health of your body, you should aim for as healthy a diet as possible. This will provide a boost if you also start taking Propecia. This works by slowly changing the way in which your body processes testosterone. With less dihydrotestosterone in your bloodstream, less hair will be shed.
By combining a healthy diet with Propecia, you get two major benefits. First, your hair loss stops. Second, your general health improves as you lose weight. So get started on Propecia and add red meat, plenty of green vegetables, fresh nuts, fruit and cereals. This avoids an iron deficiency, adds Vitamin C and gives you great hair.
Epilepsy Drugs and Treatment
- by admin
The most common way to treat epilepsy is to prescribe anti-epileptic drugs. The first antiepileptic drugs were bromides, bromides were introduced by Sir Charles Locock in 1857. He observed that bromides had a sedative effect and seemed to reduce seizures. More than 20 different antiepileptic drugs are currently available, all with different benefits and draw backs including side effects. The choice of which drug you take, and at what dosage, depends on a lot of factors, some factors are the type of seizures you have, your age, current health, and how often you have seizures. People with epilepsy should do what their doctor prescribes and ask any questions about their epilepsy drugs that they may have.
Doctors seeing a patient who was just diagnoised with epilepsy are often prescribed carbamazepine, valproate, lamotrigine, oxcarbazepine, or phenytoin first, unless the epilepsy is a type that requires different treatment. For absence seizures, ethosuximide is often the best treatment. Other commonly prescribed drugs include clonazepam, phenobarbital, and primidone. Some relatively new epilepsy drugs include tiagabine, gabapentin, topiramate, levetiracetam, and felbamate. Other drugs can be used in combination with one of the standard drugs or for intractable seizures that do not respond to other medications. A few drugs, like fosphenytoin, have been approved for use only in hospitals to treat specific problems such as epilepticus. For people who have frequent severe seizures that can be easily recognized by the person’s family, the drug diazepam is now available as a gel that can be administered rectally. This method of drug delivery may be able to prevent epilepticus.
For most people with epilepsy, seizures can be controlled with one drug. Combining medications usually amplifies negative side effects such as fatigue and decreases appetite, so doctors usually prescribe only one epilepsy drug, Combinations of drugs are sometimes prescribed if one drug fails to effectively control your seizures.
