3- Only you really know the things that you find relaxing and you should try to do them as often as possible. Even if it’s only for a few minutes at a time you should make time. Just because your partner finds that relaxation techniques include playing sport or watching television doesn’t mean you have to do the same.
4- There are many different relaxation techniques from self hypnosis to yoga and others. Find one that interests you and suits you and learn about it. Study it carefully before you enrol in a course or begin teaching yourself. The key to good relaxation techniques is that they shouldn’t be difficult. If they are difficult that will force you to think about it, giving you stressful thoughts.
5- Don’t get stressed about relaxation techniques. If you’re struggling with an exercise or technique don’t worry. If you’re falling asleep every time you try self hypnosis or meditation don’t worry. These techniques are designed to help you not give you more things to worry about.
Cystic Fibrosis After the Diagnosis

It is devastating to a parent when their child is diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. They may feel guilt because this disease is an inherited medical condition. A parent may not know they are a CF gene carrier. If both parents are carriers there is a 25 percent chance one of their children will be born with this condition. There is a 50 percent chance one or more of their children will be carriers, and a 25 percent chance the child will not be diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
A disease that affects over 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Many people are carriers and may not know it. The disease affects the mucus producing glands of the body. This disease also affects the respiratory, digestive, and reproductive organs as well as the sweat glands in the body. The normal, thin, liquid lining the passageways to the digestive and respiratory areas of the body becomes blocked when that normal lining turns thick and begins to block the passageways to these parts of the body.
Fibrosis is the most common hereditary disease in Caucasians in the United States. Nearly ten million Caucasians in America are carriers of the mutant gene that causes the disease and are unaware of that fact. Caucasians have a higher risk of getting cystic fibrosis although the disease has been detected in all ethnic groups. Breaking the statistics down so we can understand them is this; one in 31 Americans are carriers of the disease and have no symptoms to identify them as carrying the defective gene.
The lifespan of a cystic fibrosis patient is between 24 and 30 years but with newer technologies and drug treatments many are living longer. New medications and drainage procedures may increase the life span of a child born with this condition. Previously, it was rare for a child with cystic fibrosis to grow to adulthood. The cause of death for life threatening condition patient will normally be respiratory failure. The causes include respiratory tract infections or breathing distress and couples with enlargement of the right side of the heart.
There currently is no cure for this disease. There are treatments that can ease the symptoms of the disease and prolong the life span of a cystic fibrosis patient. Treatments may include antibiotics to fight infection that settles in the bronchial tubes and lungs, daily breathing and respiratory treatment. Patients are urged to chest physiotherapy that can be done manually or with a special machine. Manual chest physiotherapy can be controlled breathing for 30 to 45 minutes. You can also put the patient in a position that allows the mucus to drain from the lungs while the chest or back is clapped and vibrated. This allows the thick mucus to break away from the airways and be passed from the body. This procedure should be done over different parts of the back and chest because the mucus can settle in different areas of the lung. Mechanical devices are also available to perform the same function.

In clinical trials, it is standard practice to test the drug in question against a placebo. This is an inert liquid or substance, made to look exactly like the drug under test. In this way, the participants in the trial cannot know whether they are receiving the real drug or an ineffective treatment. The FDA judges whether to approve the given drug by looking at how many more people are helped by the drug. There’s just one problem. Many people react very favorably to placebos, particularly if administered in an impressive modern hospital. It all comes down to belief. If the doctor seems to believe in the treatment and the patient has faith in the doctor, there’s an amplification system. The stronger the belief the “substance” will be effective, the more likely it is to succeed.
In 1955, H.K. Beecher published formal research findings that placebos produced highly satisfactory results in about one-third of all cases. This remains the key work and, in a sense, it is confirmed by most clinical trials which always show a percentage of the participants taking the placebo report improvements. This makes it very difficult to decide whether the drug under test is actually having an effect in its own right or if the same placebo effect also helps some participants feel better no matter what they take or what treatment they receive. As against this, in 2001, Danish researchers reanalyzed the data from 114 clinical trials and found there was little evidence for the placebo effect in large-scale trials that lasted significant periods of time. The power of the mind to heal runs out over time. The best way round this problem is to have a third group of patients who receive no treatment at all. Herb:
Josh, while suffering with epilepsy you did a lot of experimenting on health cures for yourself. Please tell our readers about how it is important for someone with epilepsy to cut out of their diet a lot of toxins like non-stick coatings on pots and pans which you say are one of those things to be careful of.
Josh:
Ok, Herb. It is good to stay away from non-stick coatings and also a great idea to stay away from copper and aluminum pots and pans. Instead use stainless steel. Stainless steel is a much harder metal and does not release a lot of metal molecules into your food. Copper and aluminum, however, are very soft metals and they dissolve pretty easily into your food.
Herb:
What is so bad about metal pots? Doesn’t the body need some of those minerals anyway?
Josh:
A healthy body needs copper and iron and other metallic nutrients but only in very small amounts and they must be chelated. Chelation is the process that a molecule goes through as it is digested by a plant. The plant breaks minerals down into a molecule size that is small enough to absorb and be used as a building block within your body.
Just imagine if you wanted to build a nice brick porch in front of your house and someone broke down an old wall into bricks that are all plastered together in chunks. That would not make a very easy job and it would not be a very healthy porch. Instead you would go to a hardware store and buy pallets of small individual bricks that fit together easily and then you would plaster them together with fresh grout.
That is what chelation is about. It breaks down the minerals into a usable size; IN THE PLANT. NOT from eating rocks or scraping metal into your food. I became very careful about taking in too many metals into my body when I started to learn a lot about epilepsy and while I was trying to find a cure for it. You must also be warned to not take to many mineral pills or colloidal mineral supplements UNLESS they are chelated or in the form of herbs.
The cure is not in a simple pill but in a change of lifestyle, and that includes keeping toxins out of your body. Metals are one of those toxins. There are a few that are helpful though. Like pure silver for example, which is a natural antibiotic. The old phrase, “raised with a silver spoon in your mouth,” does not mean you are a spoiled brat but it is a reference to physical health. It was noticed that babies fed with silvers spoons often grew up a lot stronger and healthier. That is because of silver’s ability to kill germs.
Herbal cures using silver exist but most heavy metals are highly poisonous, like lead and mercury. They can easily cause horrifying neurological damage. Some seafood contains mercury but a lot of fish that is harvested from specific parts of the ocean do not have mercury but have omega oils that can help clean heavy metals from your body.
