See All That You Can See – Anti-Reflection Optical Coatings
- by admin
You might think that having eyeglasses made without glare is something simple that everyone would do. In fact, it would seem like everyone would want to have optical coating, which is anti-reflection coating, on their lenses so that they’d be able to see easier and not have to deal with glare. However, you’d be surprised at how many people don’t.
In Japan, it is estimated that 95% of the glasses that are sold have anti-reflection coating on them. In fact, if you don’t want the coating, you have to pay extra. In Europe, about half of the eye glasses sold have anti-reflection optical coating, but in the United States, that number is only 15 percent.
The anti-reflection coating is applied to glasses in order to improve vision through the way that the glasses work. The coating is applied similar to the way that coating is applied on microscopes, and lenses of cameras. The anti-reflection coating is applied in layers, and each of the layers is calculated to block reflecting light. When you have glasses that have anti-reflection optical coating, you’ll see a reduction in the amount of glare that you have, as well as a reduction in halos that you see around lights. Reflections will also be a thing of the past. With anti-reflection coating, you will be less annoyed by glare, and you’ll also be safer, as you will be able to see much more clearly.
Not only is anti-reflection optical coating good for being able to see better, without a glare, but they make the lenses look better. When you have glasses that aren’t coated, reflections and glare can cause the glasses to look thicker and unclear when someone is looking at you. With the anti-reflection optical , the glasses appear clearer, and your eyes will look more natural behind them.
There are several benefits that you’ll get from anti-reflection optical coating. First of all, you’ll have improved night vision. This is great for driving, or for simply being out at night, because you’ll be able to see better. You will also have decreased computer glare. This is great if you spend a lot of time working on the computer, or simply want to be able to see it better. With anti-reflection optical coating, you’ll find you have reduced eye strain, and less overhead fluorescent glare to worry about. Not only that, but anti-reflection optical coating allows you to enjoy great looking glasses.
There are even more reasons that you should consider using anti-reflection optical coating for your next pair of lenses. They improve the value of your lenses, by reducing disturbing reflections. Also, you are going to be able to experience the most crisp, clear, and natural vision that is not possible for you to experience with lenses that are not coated.
Driving is perhaps the best time to enjoy anti-reflection optical coating. You’ll have improved safety and speed, especially when you are driving at night. Also, when you are working, you’ll be able to benefit from the anti-reflection optical coating because the glare will be reduced, and the computer will not put as much of a strain on your eyes. Not only that, but the anti-reflection optical coating are going to improve your appearance by making your eyes look clearer and brighter than they have ever been.
Once you’ve heard that anti-reflection optical coating allows you to look better, be safer, and simply see better, there seems to be no reason that anyone would intentionally leave the coating off of their lenses. However. The number of people who get the coating on their lenses is very low, meaning that the vast majority of people just don’t see that the coating is very important. If you really want to be able to see your best, your clearest, and your happiest, one of the things that you want to be sure to do is to remember the anti-reflection optical coating that will come on your lenses. Without it, you’ll be aware at the reflections and glare that will bother you. With the coating, you’ll be shocked at how clear your vision can actually be. You can get HD Vision with anti-reflection coating, and this will allow you to see all that you can see.
Stress-Busters: 4 Relaxation Tips for Busy Women
- by admin
If you are anything like countless other women on the planet, you often fly through the day, busy with work, busy with family, busy with your community, and too busy, it seems, for yourself. Every once in a while, you might think of taking a break from the stress with a weekend at a spa, or a brief getaway. But, then, of course, something comes up. You never quite seem to get there. You want to relax, refresh yourself, and renew your spirit – if only you had the time.
Well, here is some good news for you. Not only are you allowed to pamper yourself, but you can also make a little bit of luxury go a long way – without ever leaving home or work.
Start by taking 10 minutes just for yourself every day. If you use them well, you can enhance your own wellness, boost your energy and feel beautiful from the inside out.
1. Slow Down. Life is passing you by in a blur. Stop and breathe. Take a few deep belly breaths to breathe in energy and tranquility. Breathe out tension and anxiety. Enjoy the people around you. Think about ways to distance yourself from the things that are causing you the most stress. Now is the time for your herbal spa wrap.
- PULL THE HERBAL SPA WRAP OUT OF YOUR DESK DRAWER, heat it up in the office microwave, wrap it around your neck, and let its therapeutic vapors work wonders. An Herbal Spa Wrap is packed with organic flaxseed, essential oils, eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, thyme, yarrow, cinnamon, wintergreen and other fine botanicals to provide deep, penetrating relief.
2. Take Charge. Set your priorities with a “Not To Do” list. Sometimes we get overwhelmed with all the things on our “To Do” list because we spend too much time doing useless activities that have no value to us. Review your prioritized list of things that need to get done, as well as things that do not need to get done. And then enjoy the satisfaction of crossing things off your list.
- CLOSE THE DOOR, SIT IN YOUR FAVORITE CHAIR, AND POUR YOURSELF A CUP OF HERBAL TEA. Green tea contains anti-oxidants that fend off free radicals, helps restore your energy, and helps you face the rest of the day.
3. Drink a Cold Water Cocktail. It seems human nature for just about everyone to take on too many tasks and responsibilities, to try to do too much, and to own too much. Take an energy break. Prepare a glass of ice water and add a spritz of lime or lemon, a sprig of mint, or a drop of pure, unsweetened cranberry juice. Cold water wakes up your spirit and generates more energy immediately. Take sips throughout the day for quick energy spurts.
- INDULGE IN A HAND MASSAGE. Use a high quality massage oil or Pampered Hands Treatment or butter up with lightly scented body butter. If you use well-crafted aromatherapy oils, your senses will thank you as much as your hands will.
4. Take a Power Nap. Seven to fifteen minutes is all you need to refresh and reinvigorate yourself. Take your nap in the early or mid-afternoon. Any later in the day and you are more likely to enter into a deep sleep.
- CALM YOURSELF WITH CHAMOMILE. Close your eyes and slip under the influence of a relaxing lavender eye pillow, filled with organic flaxseed, chamomile and lavender flowers. Close your eyes for ten minutes, tune out the world, and tune into your body. You will find the time well spent.
All of these are small steps, but they bring big results. And, who knows? Ten minutes just for you could soon turn to twenty. Either way, you will feel the difference inside and out.
Influenza – Flu – The Simple Facts And The Cures
- by admin
What is Influenza – Flu: Influenza is commonly called or known as ‘the flu’, it is a contagious viral infection of the respiratory tract. Although the flu affects both sexes and all age groups, kids and senior citizens tend to get it the most. The illness even has its own season, which is from November to April, with most of the cases occurring between late December and early March.
What causes Influenza – Flu: The Flu is caused by the Influenza virus. Health professionals classify the virus as influenza type A and type B, each of which includes strains. These strains are different from the original virus but retain some of it’s characteristics. The influenza virus changes often, so having flu caused by one strain does not give you full immunity to other strains. This is why a different vaccine is necessary every year to help prevent infection. Influenza (Flu) is easily spread by virus-infected droplets that are coughed or sneezed into the air, and by touching door handles and other items that have been handled by others who are infected, the flu is very contagious.
Symptoms for Influenza – Flu: The flu generaly lasts a week or less, with the main course of symptoms being over in a 3 day period. The symptoms of Influenza (Flu) are Fever, chills, headache, body or muscle aches, loss of appetite, tiredness, cough, sore throat, runny nose, upset stomach, weakness, diarrhea. After 3 days, the fever and other symptoms may have disappeared, but a cough or severe weakness may continue at times for a few more days. All symptoms are usually gone within a week or two. However, it’s important to treat the flu seriously, because it can lead to pneumonia or other complications, particularly in infants, senior citizens, and people with long-term health problems. I seem to get the flu every year, and every year it seems to hit me worse than the year before. I also seem to get it towards the end of Janurary or in early February of each year.
Treatment for Influenza – Flu: Once you get the flu there is not a lot you can do to get rid of it, except to wait until it has run it’s course. The best thing is to stay in bed with a warm blanket and rest as much as possible. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration and weakness. And you may want to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen to relieve headache and body aches. You should avoid giving Aspirin to children. There are some new over the counter medicines that seem to shorten the duration and severity of the flu, that you may want to try, such as: Zicam and another Oscillococcinum, often called Oscillo. I have tried the chewable Zicam tablets myself and the product did seem to make the flu symptoms less severe.
Prevention for Influenza – Flu: The best way to prevent Influenza – Flu, is to get the Flu shot, unless your allergic to it like I am. Two years in a row I got the flu shot and both times I got very sick within 2 days, I got a very bad headache and had a severe upset stomach. You should try to avoide close contact with others that have the flu. Wash you hands and forearms often, espicaly after using public restrooms, opening doors and drinking at public water fountains. Never share cups and eating utensils and don’t use other peoples tissues, touching the box is an easy way to pick up the flu bug. Stay home from work or school when you’re sick with the flu and rest.

Wholesale Optical Lab – What to Expect From Your Wholesaler
- by admin
Taking care of people’s eyes is a very important job. As an independent eye care professional you want to offer your patients quality solutions to correct their vision. Unless you are a major eye care conglomerate, you probably cannot afford your own equipment to grind out lenses and certainly not to manufacture contacts. That is where the wholesale optical lab comes in. They have all the equipment necessary and, because of their output, they can offer their goods at a reasonable price. Exactly what should you look for in a wholesaler?
First of all, you want to look for is experience. Find out how long the company has been operating and who is behind it. If it has not been in around for very long, find out about the people working there. Maybe they were at a different lab and decided to go out on their own. A brand new business does not necessarily mean there is no experience to back it up. Seek out referrals from other doctors about who else is using them. A credible reputation goes a long way in any community.
What kind of equipment is the wholesale optical lab using? Make sure that they are up-to-date on current trends and techniques in lens manufacturing. For example, are they making an anti-reflective coated lens, which not only reduces reflections, but also resists scratches, repels dirt and dust? This is a great innovation and something your customers will want.
Other important equipment feature is the automatic edging system. This system does everything to the lens automatically making the manufacture of rimless styles and others, efficient and fast. How does this piece of equipment translate to your business? It makes the lenses cheaper for you and for your customers.
Eyeglasses are not the only product you offer so, the lab you choose should also offer a variety of optical products. Contact lenses are very popular and comfort and convenience are extremely important features. What does your wholesale optical lab have to offer? Silicon hydro gel is an improvement on the contact that allows oxygen to flow through the lens and as a result, the lenses can be worn for days at a time or even up to a month. Contacts made from other materials block the oxygen which causes drying, irritation and increase chances of infection. These lenses are daily wear only because of these risks. What kind of lens do you think your customers will want?
Are the products a good value? That is not to say that you should go with the cheapest products because sometimes you really do get what you pay for. But, does the company employ practices and use equipment that maximizes their output without compromising on quality and then pass that benefit on to you? You also want to make sure that they can supply you with all of your optical needs, not just the lenses. One-stop shopping is more cost-effective and easier to manage.
You hold the key to clear vision, so you want to offer the best that is out there, but you also want it to be affordable. Your optical products provider should also have the same philosophy.
State-of-the-art, innovative, experienced and affordable are the words that best describe what people look for in an eye doctor and what you should look for in a wholesale optical lab.

How Do You Know If You Are Suffering From Epilepsy or Seizures?
- by admin
Epilepsy is a common long term illness characterized by recurring seizures. It is not easy to give a generic definition of what a seizure is, mainly due to the range of features that may be observed and the different types of seizure that may occur. However, not all seizures may result in epilepsy. For instance, some drugs may have side effects which can cause a person to have seizure; similarly a drinker may experience certain withdrawal symptoms such as seizures whilst withdrawing from alcohol.
Such one-off seizures due to alcohol withdrawals or allergy to drugs are usually not diagnosed as epilepsy. It is only when a person is said to suffer from recurring seizures of more than two times for which no provoking factors are found, that the person is diagnosed to be suffering from epilepsy.
However, they are many grey areas which can create confusion. For example, a case of a young adult who has a single seizure at the age of 19, one day after a late night and heavy alcohol intake. It would be enough to justify that alcohol do play some part in the cause of the seizure, but there are still people out there who drank days and nights, did not have any seizure. So, we must conclude that the young adult has a lower seizure as compared to a few others.
No doubt, a single seizure does not have the ability to warrant the diagnosis of epilepsy. This is because epilepsy usually consists of two or more seizures. Statistics have shown that about half of the people who suffered their first seizure will eventually go on to have a second one over the next few years.
Again, there may be grey areas in applying the definition of epilepsy to people who has had two seizures. Considering two women who had a seizure at the age of twenty and eighty respectively, it would seem much of a ridiculous to tell the elderly that he had had epilepsy all the while, but it would be obliged to do by following this definition rigidly. Likewise, a man at the age of forty, who already had eight seizures between the age of twenty to thirty, may considered that his epilepsy is still in remission, he remains a small risk of getting another seizure. All these examples hopefully show that it has to be used with common sense. Epilepsy is not one of the tidy diseases such as myocardial infarction, in which there is minor argument over it.
In another word, these complexities and medical uncertainties makes it even harder to provide a clear definition and explanation of the illness to a layman. However, it has been a common condition that is recognized since ancient times, but is also a common folklore around epilepsy which is full of both truths and inaccuracies. Some of these truths and inaccuracies can be a cause of major stigma. Hence, it is better not to provide false statement if one’s not sure about it. Nevertheless, what remains clear is that epilepsy is diagnosed as a result of a series of seizures and therefore epilepsy warrants a more urgent medical treatment.
