Epilepsy Guide – What are Hysterical Convulsions?

 - by admin

These convulsions are of a psychogenic origin, also called psychogenic seizures or psychogenic non-epileptic seizures. These should be differentiated from true epileptic convulsions; hence the value of an eyewitness for the precise diagnosis of epilepsy. Simple information, that the patient had an attack of convulsions, is not enough to attach the label of epilepsy. The physician needs to know the details regarding the convulsions and other associated factors, for the immediate treatment of the case. Hence convulsions, whenever they occur, need to be watched carefully.

Epileptic convulsions occur suddenly, and before that a specific aural symptom may appear. On the other hand, hysterical convulsions are gradual and occur after vague symptoms/warnings. Moreover, hysterical convulsions have a strange look/style, and there is no sudden fall/injury during an attack of convulsion. Likewise, there is no tongue-bite or incontinence of urine, seen in cases of epilepsy.

After epileptic convulsions, the patient feels drowsy, and may sleep for hours, and is unable to recollect anything about the attack. In the case of hysterical convulsions, the patient may narrate the whole incident. It is significant to note that hysterical convulsions never occur during sleep. Further, hysterical convulsions are more common in young females, say in the age group of 20-30 years, and at times, it is observed that such patients have also a suicidal tendency.

Even while diagnosing childhood epilepsy, hysterical convulsions must be excluded, especially when the convulsions are generalized.

It may be said that one should not be perturbed whenever convulsions occur. Each convulsive attack needs to be analyzed and diagnosed. In some patients, both types of convulsions, i.e., epileptic and hysterical, may exist. Therefore, in a case of epilepsy, if in spite of giving proper dosages of suitable antiepileptic drugs, the convulsions are not controlled, such convulsions must be again watched carefully for the associated hysterical convulsions.

However, it is both wrong and unfair to label hysterical convulsions hurriedly as epileptic convulsions, since the patient may feel insulted or injured. This may further increase psychogenic/hysterical convulsions, besides involve an unnecessary trial of antiepileptic drugs.

Diet Supplements Warnings? The Truth Behind Herbal Cures – Epilepsy Disability – Bad Vegetables

 - by admin

Herb:

Josh, I understand you have epilepsy and needed to find herbal cures and to change your diet. You say that your first step of changing your diet to cure epilepsy was to take things OUT of your diet before replacing it with supplementation. You mainly focus on removing sugar. Is that the only thing you were concerned about at first? How long until you started to remove other things for your diet as well?

Josh:

Actually I started to take other things out of my diet very shortly after the sugar. Removing the sugar takes a lot of attention but it doesn’t take a lot of time. You can see major results very quickly and once you start to build a habit of reading labels then you catch on quickly and it becomes easy. It is actually like a foundation that other changes are added to, and those other changes can start right away; even within a few days or a couple of weeks depending on how often you go shopping.

Herb:

That sounds pretty easy the way you describe it. What were some of the changes that you started to add to your sugar free foundation?

Josh:

Actually, Herb, it may sound funny, but after sugars the vegetables where the next major change. Partially because of how sugars build up in fruits and veggies when they go through processing, but the main reason is because of the nutrients that are lost in certain processes.

The change was in the way the veggies are prepared. I eliminated vegetables that were boiled. Of course I shouldn’t stop eating vegetables because I needed as much of the nutrients that they had even if it was less than it should be. While boiling them a lot of the nutrients are diluted into the water. Instead I tried to replace them with only raw vegetables. If raw didn’t work then steaming is an option because it doesn’t dilute as many nutrients.

Herb:

So steaming is a good alternative to boiled vegetables then?

Josh:

Yes it is. Still it is not as good as raw as far as nutrients go because not all nutrients are protected through the steaming process. I found that if I ate some boiled vegetables then it would fill my stomach up really quickly. Steamed vegetables sometimes have the same effect. You can eat so much more when it is raw than when it is cooked.

Steaming often leaves some parts of the vegetables partially raw so it is like a compromise, but if you steam them for too long it is almost as bad as boiling them. The reality is that you will still need to add more nutrients to you diet by finding foods that have a higher concentration of the nutrients you need. Herbs will often have that higher concentration you need. You just need to research to find out the herbs that YOU need. Often you hear of warnings to not waste your money on useless herbal cures but they really do work because they are simply adding nutrients to your body that you need but are not getting enough of in your daily diet.

Doctor Lost License to Practice Medicine For Revealing a Cure to Multiple Sclerosis

 - by admin

Until the end of the 19th century, multiple sclerosis was unknown in medical literature. The French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot discovered the symptoms back in 1868. Today multiple sclerosis belongs next to epilepsy to the fastest growing neurological diseases in the western world.

In the meantime, many potential causes have been named. One of the latest is the destruction of the myelin sheath, an insulating layer surrounding nerves. Another explanation is it would be an autoimmune disease. There are other causes mentioned but these are all quite vague.

At least medical science admits that they do not really know the true cause of this disease. They have been trying for many decades to discover the one and only pharmaceutical substance that could at least suppress the symptoms effectively. Until today, all their efforts have been futile. The consequence is they declare MS as incurable. To the harm of millions of people affected from MS worldwide.

The truth is that MS is effectively curable since 1940! In this year, the German medical doctor Joseph Evers discovered the relation between MS and nutrition, and started treating his first patients with astounding results. They got rid of MS.

Dr. Evers became well known and people from all over Germany came to see him. In the 1950s, Evers opened a hospital to be able to treat more people suffering from MS by simply changing their diet.

His success was a thorn in the side of his colleges. Instead of treating patients in the same way, they accused him of practicing bogus. They closed his clinic and Dr. Evers lost his license to practice.

In the lawsuit, the medical committee was unable to proof their accusation and they lost the case. Eventually Dr. Evers received his license back and the court had to allow him to reopen his clinic. The medical establishment suffered a heavy defeat.

It appears that they are little interested in helping people with an extraordinary solution. Instead, the only solution they have at hand with MS is prescribing medicine.

Imagine how powerful a nutritional treatment must be that doctors did all they could to stop a colleague from helping thousands of people suffering from multiple sclerosis.

Until 1975, Dr. Evers treated some 12,000 MS patients successfully including many of those who sat already in the wheelchair. Despite this outstanding success, Dr. Evers’ treatment has been quite unrecognized in the rest of the world. Instead a thousand fold proven treatment disappeared in the dark. Till to date the effectiveness of Evers’ treatment to cure MS is misrepresented. Interestingly enough medical science withholds the effectiveness deliberately as the success rate is close to 100 percent.

Fortunately, this treatment is available again to everyone in the world who suffers from multiple sclerosis and who is still in search of real help.

What is the Purpose of GABA?

 - by admin

GABA, also known as gamma-aminobutyric acid, serves as a regulatory component of the whole nervous system composed of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. It mainly regulates the neuronal excitability all through out the entire nervous system. Among humans, GABA is responsible for regulating muscle tone.

Low levels of GABA can directly affect a person’s capability in handling stresses that are brought about on a day to day basis. So generally, deficient GABA levels can negatively affect a person’s life and performance.

GABA serves as the body’s “peace maker”. It is a chemical in our brain which induces relaxation and relief from stress and other forms of anxiety. It also increases the level of alertness in a person’s body. GABA is also known as one of the four major neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are responsible for stimulating nerve impulses from one cell to another and spread it all through out the whole nervous system.

The lists of benefits that can be derived from GABA are as follows:
