We all need to unwind from time to time as the pressures of work build up, let the pressures of looking after the children catch up, and find ourselves so busy there never seems to be the right moment to have some quality time for oneself. Below we look at ten quick tips to unwinding for a weekend and relieving some of that stress.

1. Spending a day or weekend at a sauna and spa location can certainly leave you completely relaxed for Monday back at work. Depending on what country you are located in, the choice of facilities will vary. In Finland, Germany or Holland for example you should be able to locate a decent sauna or spa facilities. In the UK many such facilities are quite expensive although a centre such as the Relaxation Centre in Clifton, Bristol is fairly inexpensive.

2. Going to a reputable massage centre and having a relaxing massage can be a great stress reliever and can be worth every penny. A full body Swedish massage is one massage which is worthwhile.

3. Finding a new hobby to do can be a wonderful to let go of the usual routine and it can be great for meeting new people. Why not for example start a Digital Photography class, painting or writing for example.

5. Similarly, you new hobby can be a sport, giving you the chance to do something new, get fit and meet new friends, all at the same time.

6. Finding a good book to read and then spending a set time every day to read can also be a very good way to unwind and the escape into new worlds.

7. Eating good foods and especially healthy and tasty foods such as lots of fruit and some nice fresh fish, can be a way to feel pretty good.

8. Meet friends is always a good way to unwind and shares thoughts, ideas, problems and just to chat about common interest. Make sure you find time each week to meet up with friends.

9. Doing nothing at all can also be a wonderful way to relax. Just stick some relaxing music on or fling a movie into the DVD player and just sit back and do very little. This can be one of the bets ways to relax for many people.

10. Taking a holiday or even a weekend away can be a very good way to relax also. Go camping for a weekend or catch the Euro star across to Paris or in warmer climates, why not head to the coast for a few days.

Upon experiencing a home massage from a professional therapist, you may be tempted to never return to having a massage in a clinic. It is counter-intuitive to get into your car straight after the massage is done to go driving home and undo the muscle and mental relaxation the massage has achieved. Squeezing the steering wheel and sitting in the upright driving position can cause the muscles to tightening up all over again after you have paid to have your therapist release them.

By taking a few minutes of your time to prepare a space for the massage to take place, you can make a home massage a fantastic experience! Your particular living situation and your expectations of the massage will impact on how the following suggestions apply to you.

You may just want a massage to have the remedial relief that it can bring, though the best results tend to arise with a combination of relaxation and remedial work. Relaxation during the massage will likely enhance the physiological benefits that massage provides.

Some Tips in Getting a Great Massage

1. Try relaxing as much as possible before your massage therapists arrives. If you happen to be doing stressful activities before the therapist shows up it will take a lot more time to relax on the table. To begin the relaxation process then you might want to have a bath or take a shower.

2. You should make a suitable space for the therapist’s table and deal with any space restraints. This will make sure your therapist can access the parts of the body that they need without bumping into furniture (or you).

3. You should also turn of any phones such as your home phone or cell phone. A phone ringing during a massage can be very distracting. Even if you decide to not answer it, you will be wondering about who is calling and this can affect the relaxation process.

4. Turning the TV off is a great idea. We have done massages on client who chose to watch TV during a session; even though it is their choice then it is not that optimal for “me-time”.

5. Keep any pets or children away from the area of the massage session. We understand that this cannot always be done. Many clients that we work with are very busy parents and the only option to get a massage is with their children around. (Bribing the kids with treats generally works miracles). However, there are even some parents the find listening to their children playing and having a massage at the same time can be very therapeutic. Again it is your choice.

6. You might want to consider playing music during your massage. Whilst some mobile massage therapists may provide music, therapists generally have to carry a lot of equipment so not all therapists are able to do this.

7. You will want to make sure you have the temperature at the right level. During the cooler months when receiving a massage your body will cool down rather quickly, so having the room nice and warm is advisable.

8. Dim the lights or even turn them off and light a few candles. Being turned over in a room with bright lights can cause you to crash back into reality.

9. If you wish to chat a bit during the massage then feel free. If your preference is for quiet during the massage, then your therapist should understand this and keep conversation to a minimum.

10. After the massage is over, it is important to take time in getting off the table. Should you wish to lie on the table for a few moments after the massage has finished should not be an issue for your therapist. Remaining in “your space” and coming back to reality slowly is another great way to enhance the relaxation benefits your body can receive. Paying before the session begins is another way to remain stress free throughout and after the session.

11. If you have a large enough room then having a massage with your partner (or a friend) can be a great experience. It is suggested that there should be minimal conversation so that both massage recipients can relax.

Keep in mind that these are only mere suggestions that may or may not apply to your situation. Your mobile massage therapist may have their own suggestions and tailor the massage to your specific needs.

If you want to cure emotional binge eating forever, you need to follow the 3 tips in this article. Also, realize that this is something that affects your health, both physical and emotional so you really can’t afford to wait before finding a solution to this problem.

Before we get into the tips themselves, realize that emotional eating is due to an unhealthy dependency on food as a source of comfort. Whenever you feel bad or have some sort of emotional void inside of you, you feel the urge to overeat to fill up that void. It doesn’t solve the emotional problem but it can provide a short term relief which is why you turn to food in the first place.

Here are some tips to stop emotional binge eating:

1. Get rid of your comfort food – Most people don’t binge on just anything in the world.

Anybody who has suffered from a panic attack or an anxiety disorder knows how it can make day-to-day life impossible to live. You may, or may not recognize the symptoms or the thoughts that trigger the attack, but you definitely recognize the moment when the panic attack actually strikes. That feeling of helplessness – knowing the problem, but not being able to do anything about it, makes anxiety attacks that much more difficult to get over.

However, rather than obsessing about anxiety attacks and making your life miserable, you can learn to control your anxiety disorder through a variety of techniques. Most of these techniques won’t alleviate your illness permanently, but can provide highly effective temporary relief from the symptoms. For permanent removal of the symptoms, you may want to take up cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

1. Learn relaxation techniques. Activities such as meditation, yoga, etc. are highly effective that helping control mild anxiety attacks. If you lead a stressful lifestyle, such activities will help alleviate some of the tension and control panic disorder.

2. Massage, especially that of the region around the shoulders and neck is very effective in controlling anxiety attacks. A lot of the tension is built up in the body, the most in the regions mentioned above. Gently massaging and relaxing these muscles can relieve the symptoms of a panic attack.

3. Breathing techniques – that is, deep, slow breathing – are also very effective at relaxing the mind and the body and helping you control your anxiety disorder.

Simple tips like these can go a long way in helping you control your anxiety attacks. While they may seem trivial, the riddle to solving the anxiety puzzle is little pieces like these.

No matter how you live your life it’s guaranteed that you will encounter stresses and strains on a daily basis. In the fast-paced world we all live in it is vital to learn the best ways to relax as well to free up the proper amount of time to practice these methods.

I realise it can be difficult to find spare time which is why I’ve tried to pick out five great ways to relax that are both effective and time efficient. Using all, or even just a few, of these techniques on a regular basis will help you to remain stress-free throughout the day.

Meditation

It might seem a little “new-agey” to you but meditation is without doubt one of the best methods of relaxation. There are many great free articles and videos on the internet already explaining how to meditate that you can learn from so I won’t go too heavily into the techniques but I will explain the basic principles.

First you need a space where you will be undisturbed for fifteen minutes or so. The most common posture for meditation is the lotus position however if you find yourself unable to do this you can sit down with your legs out in front of you with your back straight.

The aim of meditation is to clear your mind of all mental chatter. The best way to do this if you are a beginner is to focus entirely on your breathing. Breathe in deeply through your nose and out through your mouth. Pay attention to how the air feels as it flows through your nose to your lungs and then out again.

You don’t have to meditate for long to feel the immense benefits. Even just five or ten minutes of meditation will have a profound effect on how relaxed you feel. The important thing though is to meditate regularly, at least once a day.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy may be the easiest way to relax there is. You can go the whole hog and splash out on enough incense and candles to fill your house but just as good is to have a few bowls of lavender scented potpourri scattered around wherever you spend most of your time. Scientific studies have noted lavender’s calming effects as well as its ability to help with insomnia and depression.

Exercise

Just seeing the word exercise may have filled your thoughts with images of super-fit men and women slogging their guts out at the gym but exercise really doesn’t have to be like that. A simple walk around the block will get your heart rate going and release endorphins that will make you feel happier and more relaxed. Plus you might even drop a few pounds. What’s not to like about that?

Music

Research has shown that the style of music you listen to has a direct effect on your mood. That’s why it’s a good idea to listen to classical music especially if you’re on your way to, or back, from work. As an added bonus classical music has also been proven to boost your IQ. So not only can it make your workday a lot less stressful but it might just help you earn a promotion too!

Self Hypnosis

Much like meditation, hypnosis helps to clear your head of mental chatter. At the same time though you can also use hypnosis to reprogram your subconscious mind to achieve powerful internal changes. Whether you use this to gain a more optimistic outlook or improve your confidence is up to you.

Self hypnosis is actually easier than ever to perform now. Thanks to the popularity of the internet many hypnotherapists sell MP3 versions of their sessions at low prices that you can simply pop onto your MP3 player and listen to before you go to bed.

If you incorporate the five relaxation tips above into your lifestyle you will start to feel the benefits within in a matter of days. Relaxation is the gift you give yourself, so why not start today?

Vacation time draws near as you want to spend time at a resort or traveling to the different places of interest. The choices are diverse and you might want to make the most out of your vacation time. The thing is–how can you do so?

Many vacations have turned out to be disasters because of improper planning. Here are some tips that you should consider before going out on a vacation.

Formulate Your Budget
Just because you’re away from home doesn’t mean you can’t budget! Sure, vacation time is where you relax from the many financial dues such as bills and other work-related issues. But that doesn’t mean you are free from payments.

It is always important to get together a budget for the vacation’s costs. You can include travel fare, hotel or resort accommodations, and other payments such as daily spending. In this way, you can really optimize the time spent on your vacation. You can really relax and enjoy your relaxation time without any worries such as financial dues.

Plan Your Vacation Route
After you’re done putting together a budget, the next step involves planning your vacation. You should consider the time it must take to get to you destination and the points of interest. This will help you organize how you spend your vacation so you don’t waste time thinking where to go next.

Planning ahead also helps you get the best reservations and other accommodations. You can everything set up as it becomes a convenience and not a hassle. With planning ahead, you can prevent any unnecessary mishaps to occur.

Prepare and Limit Your Luggage
A vacation is not always complete with your proper attire and the cameras to take pictures! You should have a checklist of things to bring so you can make sure that you don’t lose anything. Once you’ve planned your vacation, you can easily put together the amount of clothes to bring or other important things.

After preparing your luggage, learn to limit what you bring. You don’t want to be held back by too many gadgets or clothes. The possibility of losing them is increased because you have to check them more frequently. This can result in ruining your relaxing time. Always bring things that you need, don’t overdo it.

Maintain the Connection With Home
When you’re done with the necessities, it’s time to hit the resort or beach! But, always remember that even though you’re on vacation, you still have that connection to your work or any matters back at home. Make sure that you are able to carefully arrange things before you leave. Although it may be some trouble for you, it is always smart to get daily updates on the happenings back home.

Even though you’ve got everything planned, always remember that you’re on vacation. You deserve the rest, so make the most of it. But always keep these things in mind before going so you can truly make the most out of your vacation.

If you are anything like countless other women on the planet, you often fly through the day, busy with work, busy with family, busy with your community, and too busy, it seems, for yourself. Every once in a while, you might think of taking a break from the stress with a weekend at a spa, or a brief getaway. But, then, of course, something comes up. You never quite seem to get there. You want to relax, refresh yourself, and renew your spirit – if only you had the time.

Well, here is some good news for you. Not only are you allowed to pamper yourself, but you can also make a little bit of luxury go a long way – without ever leaving home or work.

Start by taking 10 minutes just for yourself every day. If you use them well, you can enhance your own wellness, boost your energy and feel beautiful from the inside out.

1. Slow Down. Life is passing you by in a blur. Stop and breathe. Take a few deep belly breaths to breathe in energy and tranquility. Breathe out tension and anxiety. Enjoy the people around you. Think about ways to distance yourself from the things that are causing you the most stress. Now is the time for your herbal spa wrap.

- PULL THE HERBAL SPA WRAP OUT OF YOUR DESK DRAWER, heat it up in the office microwave, wrap it around your neck, and let its therapeutic vapors work wonders. An Herbal Spa Wrap is packed with organic flaxseed, essential oils, eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, thyme, yarrow, cinnamon, wintergreen and other fine botanicals to provide deep, penetrating relief.

2. Take Charge. Set your priorities with a “Not To Do” list. Sometimes we get overwhelmed with all the things on our “To Do” list because we spend too much time doing useless activities that have no value to us. Review your prioritized list of things that need to get done, as well as things that do not need to get done. And then enjoy the satisfaction of crossing things off your list.

- CLOSE THE DOOR, SIT IN YOUR FAVORITE CHAIR, AND POUR YOURSELF A CUP OF HERBAL TEA. Green tea contains anti-oxidants that fend off free radicals, helps restore your energy, and helps you face the rest of the day.

3. Drink a Cold Water Cocktail. It seems human nature for just about everyone to take on too many tasks and responsibilities, to try to do too much, and to own too much. Take an energy break. Prepare a glass of ice water and add a spritz of lime or lemon, a sprig of mint, or a drop of pure, unsweetened cranberry juice. Cold water wakes up your spirit and generates more energy immediately. Take sips throughout the day for quick energy spurts.

- INDULGE IN A HAND MASSAGE. Use a high quality massage oil or Pampered Hands Treatment or butter up with lightly scented body butter. If you use well-crafted aromatherapy oils, your senses will thank you as much as your hands will.

4. Take a Power Nap. Seven to fifteen minutes is all you need to refresh and reinvigorate yourself. Take your nap in the early or mid-afternoon. Any later in the day and you are more likely to enter into a deep sleep.

- CALM YOURSELF WITH CHAMOMILE. Close your eyes and slip under the influence of a relaxing lavender eye pillow, filled with organic flaxseed, chamomile and lavender flowers. Close your eyes for ten minutes, tune out the world, and tune into your body. You will find the time well spent.

All of these are small steps, but they bring big results. And, who knows? Ten minutes just for you could soon turn to twenty. Either way, you will feel the difference inside and out.

Did you know that when asked more than 75% of people replied that stress is one of their major health concerns? It’s no surprise, considering the rapid pace of modern life and the variety of things we are expected to juggle and be successful with.

If you find the hectic pace of your day is starting to take over, an the things you are supposed to control are starting to control you, here are a few tips you can use to help yourself relax and drop some stress.

Try Some Light Stretching

Doing something physical can help release the mind and break the chain of stress. It doesn’t have to be much, maybe just some gentle stretching. Lay on you back and one at a time pull your knee up to your chest. Hold each stretch for a count of 30, breathing deeply and evenly. Sit cross- legged and pull each arm up to the side of your head while leaning in that same direction. Focus on the stretch in your back and shoulder. Feel better?

A Hot Shower or Hot Bath

We can’t all carve out the time for a long, hot bath surrounded by candles and incense. But we can probably carve out 10 -15 minutes for a pick-me-up. Just lay (or stand there) and feel the water on your body. A few deep breaths will help, and the heat is just the thing to help loosen tight muscles.

A Quick Massage

We all laugh at them when we see those massage chairs and pads set outside stores in the mall, but they can be a fantastic way to grab a quick, refreshing stress break. You can get a chair massager for pretty cheap these days. Take a 5 minute break, close your eyes, and let the massager roll the stress out of your body.

Music

Stop what you’re doing and go put on some music you enjoy. Don’t do anything while the song plays. If you’re not alone, sing along in your head. If you’re alone, or in your car, while no try belting out the words, even if you’re off-key. If you’re at home, take a chance and do some dancing. You’ll be surprised at how good you’ll feel when you’re done.

The negative impacts of stress on a person’s health are well know. Don’t be a victim! Take a few moments throughout your day to do some quick stress-relieving exercises. You’ll feel better for it!

Self-hypnosis is safe for everyone and can be done anywhere at anytime. You need to make sure that you are in a comfortable place and reasonably quiet, with no disturbances like kids or pets.

During an emergency, you should bring yourself out of self-hypnosis process easily and quickly. You should come back to a relaxed state when you are dealing with whatever has disturbed you. Then you can count yourself slowly and gently. In this way your body will adjust from being relaxed to being active again. This is the difference between being shocked out of deep sleep and waking up slowly. The only side effect you may experience is falling sound sleep in the middle of your self-hypnosis.

There are some basic instructions on how you would be performing self-hypnosis.

Before doing self-hypnosis, make sure that you are in a relaxed position, lying down or sitting.
You need to trigger a word or numbers like 1, 2, 3… and so on.
Starting from your toes to head, relax every muscle.
Control your breathing associating deep breathing with relaxation. While you inhale count from numbers 1 to 7, and while exhaling count from 7 to 1. This focuses your mind and relaxes your body.
Counting down from 10 to 1 is the deepening technique. There is relaxation at 1.
You should choose a private place for relaxation.
All your vivid imaginations appear in reality.
Guide yourself with the point by telling yourself that you are confident, focused, and concentrating on whatever you want to achieve. Mornings, afternoon and evening sessions are ideal for self-hypnosis process to get carried on daily. Avoid direct suggestions like ‘I will not, do not, must, have to, should ………..’ These are negative words.
Wake yourself up by counting numbers for nearly thirty seconds for re-energizing your body with the process of self-hypnosis.

A self-hypnosis session will take approximately twenty minutes and can be done thrice or four times daily.

Mornings are the precise time to start giving you positive suggestions for the day. This would help you in relaxing and makes you comfortable, but avoid sleeping. A midday session also is good to re-energizing yourself. Evening sessions are also good before going to sleep.

It is important to be aware that self-hypnosis can act as a band-aid if you have any issues which are yet unresolved. You could visit a consultant for further tips in this area.

What a world of difference a deep breath can make! It is one thing to know that you need to relax, but how do you find the time? To reach the “relaxation response” at times can seem like you are trying to hit a moving target. Just ask Joan, a 31-year-old full time college student and mother of 2 active preteens. “I needed coffee today just so I could study for my exams, “she panted on her way to a class. Mike, an exhausted engineer is having difficulty sleeping through the night.

Here are some quick tips for relaxing when it seems like you cannot fit in one more thing:

Tip #1. This may require planning, however it will repay you. Eat a breakfast of whole oats or steel cut oats cooked, not micro waved. This will give your body needed fuel. Sprinkle chopped almonds, walnuts, or seasonal fruit on the oatmeal for added variety.

Tip #2. Curve your lips upward into a smile. Smiling is a way to remind yourself that you can handle your life. Practice often. Write notes around your home, office and as reminders to smile often.

Tip #3. Before bed soak your feet in warm water for 5 minutes.

Tip #4. If you are in the habit of multi-tasking, stop. Yes, un-plug the device from your ears and enjoy walking down the street or whatever you are doing. Focus your energy. Develop a habit of doing one thing at a time. It will repay you in increased effectiveness and over time you will accomplish more in less time.

Tip #5. Remember to exhale then inhale again. When we hurry and hold our breath, without awareness, for too long it generates a sense of unease.

Tip #6. Hold your thumb. Wrap your fingers completely around your thumb repeat with your other hand. Do for 3-5 minutes. This position calms anxiety.

Tip #7. Take a trip, in your mind. Sit in your office, car, etc. and visualize yourself calm, smiling and joyful. Take yourself to place that you enjoy and chill there. You did it, you’re calmer.
