Relaxation Hypnosis – Induce Greater Relaxation

 - by admin

Relaxation hypnosis, as the name implies, is used to induce greater relaxation in a person in a permanent or semi-permanent way. Hypnosis by its nature puts a person into a far more relaxed state of mind, so relaxation hypnosis is ideally suited to help a person become more relaxed.

People today are, in general, suffering from too much stress. Some stress is normal and even healthy, and productive, and there are of course those people who thrive “under pressure”. But too many people are too often totally stressed out. One reason that we are so chronically stressed out as a society is that we are a society of shallow breathers. We don’t practice diaphragmatic breathing unless we are specially trained such as vocalists, distance runners, and so on (even though this shallow breathing is actually the learned behavior). We thus cause great tension in our bodies, in our neck and shoulders, that we have no need for and which wears us out, giving us less energy to handle our lives and, therefore, creating great stress in ourselves. However, many people find it very hard to let go of their bad shallow breathing habit. Hypnosis is sometimes used to help these people breathe better and therefore reduce their stress.

But there are other reasons for being stressed out. We live in a society where it’s easy to have information overload. When we feel that our minds just cannot cope with all of the data that are streaming into us for our jobs or, nowadays, our personal lives, or about the economy, or about world events, we naturally “press”. We stress ourselves to try to think more (such as by ingesting more caffeine), take down notes faster, read more, find more information, make more time for work, etc. But this kind of mental pressure often comes with terrible consequences after a while. We might feel afraid of what we learn, since we are now so surrounded by greater amounts of mis-information as well as data. We can feel inadequate from taking on too much. Our high levels of stress can also lead to negative health consequences: insomnia; constant headaches; irritability; being quick to anger; loss of focus or concentration; high blood pressure; heart-stress; muscle tension; and many other things.

Hypnosis or hypnotherapy for relaxation works by contacting the subconscious mind and re-programming it with new perspectives and attitudes, or new reactions and habits. Besides programming our bodily habits to breathe better, we might use relaxation hypnosis to remove mental blocks that we have toward doing healthy things to reduce our stress, such as going running several times a week or learning to play a musical instrument. Relaxation hypnosis is also used to put more positive, more joyful thoughts in our stream of consciousness, or even more self-confident thoughts, all of which play a role in helping us relax more.
