Can’t Fail Relaxation Tactics For Stress Relief
- by admin
Like many people who live in a big city, I often find myself getting distracted by all that life brings. It’s all too easy for us to lose sight of what’s happening around us when we’re moving at such a fast pace.
I only came to realize how highly strung and wound up I was when I lost my job. I needed to lose the tension and relax by taking up a few activities on a regular basis. That way, I’d be able to enjoy the simpler pleasures in life.
I found three things to be especially effective for this and I hope they can help you, too.
A hot bath can be very relaxing. Make the most of yours if you’re lucky enough to have one at home. It will soothe you physically and emotionally, so take one as often as you can. Try to allow yourself plenty of time so you can enjoy some of your favorite music while you’re in there.
My next recommendation would be to take up reading. My friends and I have recently started reading the same book in a month and then meeting up to share our thoughts on it. I not only enjoy the time spent reading, but also the time spent having a coffee with friends and sharing a common interest.
However, running must be my preferred method for staying calm. That might sound strange to you. It requires a lot of effort, puts a strain on your body and at the end of it you’re just worn out, right?
No, actually. Although it’s a tough form of exercise and quite tiring, after a run you’ll find you feel totally relaxed and cheerful. You’ll get a good night’s sleep, too.
For the ultimate relaxation experience, follow a run with a nice hot bath.
Aromatherapy – A Relaxation Experience You Owe Yourself
- by admin
Aromatherapy is the notion that certain good smelling, plant derived oils enhance your health and physical well being, far beyond the pleasant smell and nice feeling they endow. They are inhaled, or massaged on, or occasionally ingested.
Aromatherapy is the practice of using the essential oils, from a wide variety of plants, to bring about certain changes in the body or the mood.
Scientists discovered long ago that scent is a very powerful thing. For example, certain scents can trigger memories and others can bring about certain mental physical changes. Aromatherapy is said to restore or enhance mental, emotional, physical or spiritual health. While such claims are essentially non-testable, you cannot argue with the mountain of testimonials that state these facts for hundreds of thousands of individuals.
Aromatherapy at its core is quite simple. A mixture of lavender, geranium, and patchouli relieves tension and anxiety; chamomile and melissa act as antispasmodics and nerve sedatives. Aromatherapy is promoted as a natural way to help patients cope with stress, chronic pain, nausea, and depression and to produce a feeling of well-being. Proponents also claim aromatherapy can help relieve bacterial infections; stimulate the immune system; fight colds, flu, and sore throats; improve urine production; increase circulation; and cure cystitis, herpes simplex, acne, headaches, indigestion, premenstrual syndrome, muscle tension, and even cancer. Aromatherapy is considered by many to be a branch of herbal medicine. It is in fact the use of herbs and flowers in their most concentrated form.
Aromatherapy has also been reported to decrease nausea and vomiting, decrease anxiety and increase quality of life in cancer patients. Aromatherapy is sometimes used in clinics and hospitals for treatment of pain relief, for labor pain, for relieving pain caused by the side effects of the chemotherapy, and for the rehabilitation of cardiac patients.
In today’s world, virtually everyone has stress. Aromatherapy is one effective way to fight stress. Aromatherapy is an ancient yet timely and stunningly modern approach to total well-being that is in tune with nature. While it is no substitute for modern medicine, no matter how much you would like to believe in the healing powers of flowers and plants, the beneficial effects of it have been known and used for literally thousands of years.
